Our History
Natural stone has been used for thousands of years in the construction of buildings and homes. Up until the 1700's, stone was used as the main structural element; more recently however, stone has been used as a façade or veneer to create the much-desired look, meaning the stone has no structural function what-so-ever. So the question is, why use the traditionally thick stone when the same look can be achieved by using a much thinner version which costs much less?
Many companies market and sell fake stone veneer, otherwise known as cultured stone, pre-cast stone, stone facing, or simply thin stone veneer. Erthcoverings however offers its clients a natural stone alternative to fake stone, without the added cost. Stone veneer is becoming very popular in the building industry due to its cost saving properties. Traditional natural stone used for building facades is 4" to 6" thick, thin stone veneer however is usually 1" to 2" thick. By trimming off this excess stone, the need for costly footings and foundations are eliminated. Thin stone veneer is also easier to apply and therefore reduces labour time and cost.
ErthCOVERINGS take the cost savings one step further. The use of most thin stone veneer requires skilled labour due to its complex installation. This skilled labour is usually hard to find and can add substantial costs to the installation. ErthCOVERINGS natural stone veneer however is offered in a modular format that can be easily installed by a tile setter, general contractor, or a handy person. Whether it is stone for exterior facades, interior feature walls, fireplaces, or stone flooring, ErthCOVERINGS has a natural stone for you.
